- examination, planning & coordination of ICAO work & airnav.

- Establishes SARPs

languages of the 18 annexes

English, French, Spanish, Russian

MEA (Min. enroute ALT)

lowest published ALT between radio fixes that meets obstacle clearance. MEA applies on entire Airway width.

MORA (Min. offroute ALT)

provides known obstruction clearance within 10 NM of route centerline.

MOCA (Min. obstruction clearance ALT)

lowest published ALT between radio fixes (VOR airways, off airway routes, or route segments)

MRA (Min. reception ALT)

lowest ALT at with an intersection can be determined

MAA (Max. authorised ALT)

max. usable ALT or FL for airspace structure or route segment

MCA (Min. crossing ALT)

lowest ALT at a certain fixes at with aircraft must cross when proceeding in direction of a higher min. enroute IFR altitude.

MHA (Min. holding ALT)

Min. ALT at which an Aircraft is allowed to fly in a holding

MDA/H (Min. descent ALT/height)

Min. ALT for non precision appr. or circling appr. without visual reference

MSA (Min. safe ALT)

ALT on intrument appr.-chart which provides 1000ft obstacle clearance within 25NM from NAV-aid. If divided in Sectors it is called min. Sector ALT.

TORA (Take off runway available)

Available ground run for an aircraft to take off

TODA (Take off distance available)

TORA + Clearway. TODA do not exceed 1,5xTORA

ASDA (Accelerate-Stop distance available)

TORA + Stopway. Aircraft can stop in case of emerency.

LDA (Landing distance available)

From Threshold to the point at which the surface will not bear the aircraft weight.

CWY (Clearway)

Save area free of obstacles at begin of runway end for initial climb to a specified altitude. CWY is part of TODA.

SWY (Stopway)

Same width as runway. Should support the aircraft without structural damage in case of abandoned take off.

SARP'S (Standarts And Recommended Practices)

Published in Annexes

Standarts:

are defined as specifications of the uniform application of which is recognised as necessary for the saftey for international air navigation. They must be applied!

Recommanded Practices:

are not mandatory, and different from standarts must be notified to the ICAO Council (Articel 38 of Convention). They should be applied!

PAN's (Procedures of air navigation services)

PAN'S are approved by council, recommanded to contracting states for worldwide application.

Not status of Annex

Published in documents

SUPP'S (Regional Supplementary Procedures)

SUPP'S reviewed by air navigation commission, approved by Council for use only in FIR's to which they pertain.
