--> Countable nouns haben einen grammatischen Plural, sind also im grammatischen Sinne zählbar:
> many / a few people
> many / a few cars
> many / a few students
> many / a few hobbies
> many / a few dollars
> many / a few times (viele Male!)
usw.
uncountable
--> Uncountable nouns bilden keinen grammatischen Plural und sind insofern unzählbar. Dazu gehören unter anderem üblicherweise Flüssigkeiten:
> much / a little milk
> much / a little whisky
> much / a little work
> much / a little money (es gibt davon keinen Plural)
> much / a little time (viel Zeit!)
Erklärung 1
unzählbare (uncountable) Substantive kann man nicht zählen.
Nichtzählbare Dinge sind Flüssigkeiten, Sammel/Oberbegriffe, also z.B.:
Wasser (water), Öl (oil/petrol), Kaffee (coffee), Tee (tea), Wein (wine), Bier (beer), Zucker (sugar), Mehl (flour), Honig (honey), Reis (rice), Sand (sand), Schokolade (chocolate), Geld (money) usw.
Man kann nicht sagen 3 Öl, aber 3 Liter Öl.
Um diese Begriffe zählbar zu machen verwendet man Maßangaben oder Behältnisse, z.B.
1 glass of water, 1 litre of oil, 1 cup of coffee, 1 pot of tea, 10 bottles of wine/beer, 100 g of sugar, 1 kg of flour, 1 jar of honey, 1 sack of rice, 10 buckets of sand, 1 piece of chocolate, 5 Dollars usw.
zählbare (countable) Substantive kann man zählen 1, 2, 3, .... (ganz viele) bis unendlich
