How many bosses do you have when you work in matrix organization?

2

OBS:

what does it stand for (abbreviation & explanation)

Organizational breakdown structure

Project team that will make the project. (includes communication channel, authoritiy & responsibility)

What are the downsides of a functional structure?

What aspects do you have to consider when selecting an organizational structure?

What are the objectives of a WBS?

-Abbreviation

Work breakdown structure

-Reflect your scope

-Organize the activities to do in a project

A WB (work package) can be (4 Dinge).

Monitored

Controlled

Scheduled

Estimated

DOW

Division of Work:

Put the WB (working packages) to the responsible member who is responsible for that (organization units)

RAM (abbreviation and explanation)

Responsibility Assignement Matrix

Whoch member is responisble for what (primary & secondary responsibility)
(zusammengesetzt aus OBS (organizational breakdown structure) & WBS)

A responsibility assignement matrix defines...

A work breakdown structure reflects...

A organizational break describes...

...the roles of the team members

...everything needed for a project

...the project team

Elements of a contracting strategy:

Administrative strategy

Type of contract

Project delivery system

Type of schedule

Project delivery systems:

1. Design-Bid-Build (design & bid-build sind nicht vom gleichen Unternehmen)
    a. Construction Management at risk
    b. Multi-Prime (owner is the general contractor und schaut für budget & schedule)
2. Design-Build (design build by one entity)
3. Public private Partnership (PPP or P3)
4.Integrated project delivers (IPD)

Bidding process consists of:

1.Announcemnent (Ankündigung)

2. Preparation & Submission

3. Evaluation & Selection

Bid types (4):

Open bid: all

Restricted bid: not all

Selective / Inviation bid: eingeladene

Direct awarding

(depens on the project volume and market situation)

What are the different types of negotiated cost plus contracts?

Fixed fee

Sliding fee

% of cost

GMP

What does IPD (integrated project delivery system) prevent?

Litigation

Competition

equation for WBS

WBS = PBS + ABS

What are the components of claim?

Time & money

What ist the most common activity realtion in construction project?

Finish to start

What are the steps to create a schedule (4)

1. Definie activities

2. Sequence activities

3. Determine duration

4. Graphical representation

Gant chart:

horizontal axis

vertical axis

Gant charts are.

-hor: time intervalls

-ver: tasks to be performed

-type of bar illustrating the project schedule

Excusable delay

beyond contractors control, like unforseeable weather, owner change and different site conditions

can be compensable (owner ist schuld) or non-compensable

hurricane is an example for:...

...force majeure

Pacing characteristics.

(Contractor does smt to pace the proces)

Voluntary

By-product of concurrent delays

Liquidated damages

They are not a penalty, they are set in the contract phase.

Calculated loss what the owner will lose if the contractor is over schedule

Method to determine durations:

-Stochatic method

-PERT

-deterministic (most common)

Acitivity duration

Duration

Effort

-time calendar unit between start and finisch

-total numer of work periods (workdays/workweeks) -->nur Arbeitstage

-The number of units needed to complete an activity (staff hours/days...)

FF (free float)

TF (total float)

-time which an activity kann geschoben werden, without a delay of any other activity or end date

-time which an activity can be moved/extended without a change in the end date

Finish to start

Start to finish

Start to start

Finish to finish

-

-an acitivity can be finished erst wenn die nächste gestartet ist (special case)

Estimate types:

detailed estimating

Parametric estimate: durchführbarkeit (feasability)

Bid estimate: detailed

Contract estimate: detailled, most accurated & binding

detailed: based on quantity of each task

Parametric estimation characteristics (4)

-for go/nogo-decisions

-scalable (2h für 3000Wörter daraus folgt 1h für 1500 Wörter)

-uses historical datas

-fast and not much effort

auf das Projektvolumen wird geschaut

sehr ungenau, kann nicht days of work angeben

detailed estimation

direct cost + indirect costs + markup

markup = profit(company needs) & financial risk(market needs)

direct costs (4)

Labor

Material

Equipment

Crew

indirect costs

Nicht einem Projekt/activity zuordbar:

main offices

company car

...

Resource leveling:

Resource smoothing:

-Leveling: Resource constraint. The Aim is that the resource limit is not exceeded. Extend of the project duration possible. Nur wenn die Ressourcen bei einem Projekt limitiert sind.

-Smoothing: Time constraint, the finish date is fix and it's tried to rearrange the task so that as less ressources as possible are needed. Only free resp. total float is used.

What is essential to develop reliable estimates?

-Experience

-Qualitiy

Which of these are main objectives in ressources management?

  • save money
  • reduce downtime
  • rent less equipment
  • have less workers
  • prevent overallocation

prevent overallocation

reduce downtime

BCWS

budget cost of work scheduled (planned value)--> wie weit man geplant hat zu sein

ACWS

Actaul cost of work performed (actual cost)-_> wieviel dafür gezahlt wird

BCWP

BAC

Budgeted cost of work performed (Earned value)

BAC: Budget at completion

Schedule variance:
Schedule performed index:

Cost variance
Cost performance index:

Schedule variance SV = EV - PV
SPI     SPI = EV / PV

Cost variance CV = EV - AC
CPI         CPI = EV / AC
