Instrumentations

L. W.

Temperature Definition

air Temperature is the kinetic energy of air molecules

Wie heisst künstlicher Horizont beim Airbus

EFIS

ECAM

Parallax Whats that?

2 Instruments Arrangement

1. Air Data Instruments: Airspeed, Vertical Speed Indicator, Barometric Altimeters 2.Gyro Instruments: Horizont, Pitch, Kompass

Air pressure

p = F/A (Pa)

Density

Measure of mass per volume p= m/ V

Since water is the ightest molecule in an air parcel, humid air is

less dense than dry air

Ideal flow is:

1. Frictionless 2. Incompressible 2. Steady

Bernoulli says

that the total energy of a flow remains constant along a streamline

Dynamischer Druck

\(q = {1 \over 2} * v^2 * p \)

ISA

Standart ATmosphere is an atmospheric model of how the pressure, temperature, density and viscosity of the Earth's atmosphere change over a wide range of altitudes

Standart temperature lapse rat within the Troposphere

-2 K / 1000 ft

ISA temperature deviation

Difference between OAT und T (ISA) =>> ISA temperature deviation > 0 = atmosphere is warmer than the ISA atmosphere

caution

Vorsicht

Luft besteht aus

78 % N2, 21% O2, 1% restliche Gase

static pressure expresses

the potential energy and acts in all directions => measured perpendicularly to the airstream

dynamic pressure acts only

in the direction of the flow and expresses the kinetic energy in a flow

VA

Maneuvering Speed => Not displayed on the speed indicator because according to aircraft weight => maximum speed at which you may apply full and abrupt control movement without danger of structural damage

VNE

Never Exceed speed => result in damage or structural failure

Yellow Sector Speed Indicator

Caution range => Only possible in smooth air and only with caution (Vorsicht)

VNO

Max normal operating speed

VFE

Max speed with flaps full down / extended

VS1

Stalling speed in a specified configuration

VS0

Stalling seed in landing configuration

VYSE

Best rate of climb for multi nine aircraft if one engine out

YMC

Minimum control speed for multi engine aircraft if one engine our

White traingle

Maximum Speed at flaps 15 Grad

Function Simple Altimeter

when the aircraft is climbing, the aneroid capsule expands because of the decreasing pressure inside the case

Sensitive Altimeter

essentially the same as the simple altimeter => The pressure sensing element is made up of two or more aneroid capsules stacked together to increase the sensitivity of the instruments

What is special by the three pointer Altimeters?

special window, black and white diagonal lines appear when the airplane descends to an altitude below 10'000 fr => Above the lines are hidden beneath a black cover

Because teh atmosphere changes in a nonlinears manner the altimeters linear scale has to be

corrected, but the expansion/contraction characteristics of the aneroid capsule are nonlinear

Altimeter Tolerance

for Altimeters with a range up to 30'000: +/- 60 ft for Altimeters with a range up to 50'000: +/- 80 ft

Altimeter: Hysteresis Error

The pilot flies a little higher than indicated by the altimeter. Descent: The pilot flew several feet lower than indicated

Altimeter: Elastic Drift Error

Etwa das Selbe wie Hysteresis Error: Indicated altitude changes with a certain delay
