Who are archeologists and what do they study?
Archeologists are people who study artifacts and fossils and hunt for evidence buried in the ground where settlements might have been
How did domesticating animals help the neolithic people?
They don't have to hunt and kill animals, they could hold animals in a farm and kill them when they needed it. Domesticated animals provided milk, wool and meat. They also carried things.
They didn't have to move - so they could form villages
They could specialize because now they didn't have to focus only on food
Different Jobs:
Making Pottery
Farming
Trading
Watching children
Trading = 1st economy (Wirtschaft)
Determine cause and effect!
A cause is something that causes for example the pig flue and the effect is, that for example many people died.
What are Anthropologists?
They look at what archeologists find and figure out how humans developed and how they related to one another - what was the society like
Domesticating
Take wild animals and plants and tame them for human use
Paleolithic
They were Nomads because they had to follow animals to hunt them in order to survive.
Technology:
Learned to make fire, most of their tools were made out of stones, bones and wood.
Chipped stones - handaxes
Wooden pole with a sharp piece of flint - Hunting spears.
Fishhooks, needles from animal bones
Neolithic
Technology:
Began to work with metal
Better farming tools - like the sickle
Weapons with metal, heated the metal and poured it into molds.
Fire
It was important to chase away dangerous animals, to make weapons out of metal, they could cook the animals, it kept them warm and it gaves them light during the night.
