What is a mexican elbow? How do you use it?

it holds 8 grams of 100% pure alcohol or 25ml of 40% liquor.
What's the difference between the technique "Shaken" and "stirred"?
Shaken cocktails dilute and chill the content faster, integrating air into the liquid, resulting in a lighter texture and cloudy appearance.
What is a bar spoon?
A long spoon to reach the bottom of each glass. 2 different types are straight or twisted. Some also have a small fork at the end for picking up e.g. fruits or olives.
The prime purpose is to stir and turn cocktails.
What is a stirring / mixing glass?
A glass to mix the drinks with some advantages: harder to break, have a spout for accurate pouring and keep liquids chilled longer.
What ist the "Roll" technique used for?
It's used for mixing cocktails consisting of a few, often savory, ingredients. It combines and chills the liquid gently whitout melting as much ice or adding as much air as shaking.
What is a rimmer / What do you use it for?
It keeps all the necessary ingredients for perfecting a margerita. It's designed to hold salt, sugar and citrus juice. The citrus juice container includes a sponge, so that you dip the rim of the glass into the sponge. After dip the glass into either salt or sugar.
What are juice pourers / Store 'N Pours?
Containers to keep the juices as they are better for bar space. They help to work faster and more efficiently. They are also colour coded.
What are the two conveniences of mixing a cocktail? (Instead of shaking)
- Mixing is faster.
- Mixing prevents the cocktail from becoming watered down before serving.
What is a bar caddy / bar organizer?
A plastic construction to organize napkins, straws, stirrers and more.
What is special about the "Layered" technique?
The ingredients are not mixed. The ingredients lies on top of the preceding ingredient as a seperate layer.
What ist the "Muddled" technique?
The purpose of this method ist to extract juices, oils and flavour from fruit, herbs and spices.
Name 6 serving techniques
- serve all cocktails on napkins
- remove and replace all wet or dirty napkins
- place the cocktail right in front of the guest
- clear the bar top of empty glasses/bottles, used napkins and straws
- immediatly clean up any spills or, in case of dropped or knocked over cocktails, warn guests about the risk of broken glass before cleaning
- keep your station always clean ( bar, bar top, floor..)
- make sure all glassware is clean, on the right temperature and never touch the top half or rim of the glass
- if a cocktail is cleared by mistake, offer the guest a new one
- inform the guests about any out of stock items or changes in the menu
- alwys present yourself in a professional and polite manner
- maintain a respectful attitude towards guests and avoid becoming over-friendly
- let the guests know that you saw their arrival
- always avoid discussing personal issues in the workplace
- never discuss sensitive topics with guests or colleagues (religiom, politics...)
- never discuss negative topics with guests or colleaugues
- ensure guests are always the focus of your attention
- pay attention to the atmosphere
