Drishti: nasikagra - tip of the nose
- Stand on the mat with the feet together. Arms are relaxed at the side of the body. Heas in neutral. Evenly distribute weight on all four corners of the feet.
- Press the base of the big toes into the mat to engage pad bandha
- Draw the navel into the spine to engage uddiyana bandha

To help with balance, stand with the feet hip-with apart.

- From samasthiti, on an inhale, raise the arms above the head , pressing the palms together at the top
- Draw the navel into the spine to engage uddiyana bandha

TADASANA VARIATION
First drishti: nasikagra - tip of nose
- from uttanasana varation, on an inhale, straigthen the legs and roll up the spine one vertebra at the time until fully erect. Raise both hands overhead, turning the plams toward the centerline and keeping them shoulder-with apart
- On an exhale, lift the heels, balancing on the balls of the feet. Strech the body coompletely form the toes to the fingertips. Pull the fron ribs into the body to prevent the back from arching. Aim to create a hollow front body, feeling the pose as a handsstand on the feet. Press evenly into the balls of the feet to avoid balancing on the inner or outer edge of the foot
- Scoop the acrum under and draw the navel into the spine to engage uddiyana bandha and stabilize the core. Enggage the inner thights toward the midline to lift the pelvic floor and engage mula bandha. Maintain the soft sound of the breath through the contraction of the throat to gently apply jalandhara bandha.
- After a few breath, walk forward on the balls of the feet to return to the top of the mat for samasthiti

To aid with balance, leave the heels down, and focus on lengthening the spine
