Architecture Vocabulary - Concrete

Stonelike building material made by mixing cement, water and various mineral aggregates. 

A pulverized mixture of clay and limestone. It's the binder in the concrete.

Aggregates are various hard, inert, mineral materials, such as sand and gravel. It's the straight of concrete.

fine aggregate & expanded shale

Any subtance other than water, cement or aggregate, added to a concrete to change the physical or chemical property.
