Difference between acitve and latent failure?

Active = produces immediate effect Latent= produces no immediat effect

Difference between acitve and passive failure?

Active= will produce large input in the system (erroneous function of the servovelve) Passive= is observable but wont have an input to the system (reduction of hydraulic flow in the actuator)
