After landing the transponder mode has to be changed from ON to STANDBY or OFF when the aircraft has left the runway.
How are the transponders in a formation set?
only the leader is squawking, the wingman is squawking standby

What's the difference between civil and military transponders?
civil -> Mode A (code), C (code + altitude), S
military -> Mode 2, 3 and 4
Explain the modes of a military transponder.
Mode 2 -> ATCO sees on the FLUR radar the matriculation and altitude
Mode 3 -> ATCO sees on the FLUR radar the selected code and altitude
Mode 4 -> used during wartime only, data transmitted in a coded way (on screen seen as Mode 2)
