What is a Blazon?
Blazon: French for “coat-of-arms” or “shield.” A literary blazon (or blason) catalogues the physical attributes of a subject, usually female.

How is an English sonnet structured?
- 14 lines
- Each containing ten syllables
- iambic pentameter
- 3 quatrains

- Main concern usually about love
- "Love is blind" (image of Cupid)
- the problematic gap between ideal und reality when it comes to the person you love

- assonance: connects two words by identical vowels (foam - moan)
- consonance: connects two words by identical consonants ( loads - lids)
What is an eye rhyme?
- Looks similar but sounds different (move - dove)
What is an identical rhyme?
- Includes the consonants before the vowel (know - no)
What is a triple rhyme?
- Parallels three syllables (treacherous - lecherous)
What is a feminine rhyme?
- Stressed - unstressed (gender - bender)
What is a masculine rhyme?
- Last syllables stressed in two lines ( fan - man)
