When is the unusual attitude mode active (chevrons)?

Pitch more than 25° nose up or 15° nose down

More than 65° bank.

What does FPV cage mode do?

Only vertical vector is shown (lateral vector is indicated by a small ghost FPV)

Whats the time, the airspeed trend vector stands for?

Speed trend in 10s.

What are the names for V1 VR and V2?

V1: Takeoff Decision Speed

VR: Takeoff Rotation Speed

V2: Takeoff Safety Speed

Whats the name for green dot speed?

Best Lift/Drag Speed

What does the amber minimum speed (L-shape) stand for?

Minimum Trim Speed Vmin Trim

When is Airspeed Miscompare Flag shown?

IAS diff. >10 KIAS

Name the minimum speed indications!

Yellow L: VMIN Trim

Red Framed: VAOA Soft

(Low Speed Range)

Red Full: VAOA Hard

(Stall Marker)

What does CTP, MKP and CCP mean?

CTP: Control Tuning Panel

MKP: Multifunction Keyboard Panel

CCP: Cursor Control Panel

Color codes on synoptic pages:

• Green ?
• Amber ?
• Red ?
• Black ?
• White thin line ?

• Green – Normal operating range and values
• Amber – Caution range or below normal values
• Red – Limits or normal values exceeded
• Black – No flow
• White thin line – No flow

What does EICAS mean?

Eingine Indication and Crew Alerting System

When is TO and LDG message inhibit mode active?

Takeoff: 80kts to 400 ft AGL or 25s airborne

Lamding: 400 ft AGL to 50kt

What is the CAS button on the MKP for?

To cycle through the EICAS messages. (CAS=Crew Alerting Section)

What is checked for Takeoff Config Warning?

-Elevator and rudder trim pos

-Sidestick prio

-Flap setting

-Spoiler pos

-Autopilot setting

-Parking brake

What is the priority order of aural calls?

1: STALL

2: TAWS

3: TCAS

4: All others

What does ADSP mean?

Air Data System Probe

How many Air Data Probes are installed?

4xADSP

2xAOA

2xTAT

Usage of ADSP (airdata)?

ADSP 1: Left PFD

ADSP 2: Right PFD

ADSP 3: ISI (Standby Instrument)

ADSP 4: Used in case of ADSP failure

What are AOA sensors used for?

ASB backup for the ADSP integrated AOA function.

What does FIDEX mean?

Fire Detection and Extingusihing

What happens if the ENG FIRE BUTTON is pressed (fire detected)?

• Both engine fire extinguisher bottles arm for discharge
• Engine fuel shutoff valves close
• Engine shuts down
Fan air valve closes
• Engine bleed air shutoff valve closes
Hydraulic shutoff valve closes
• Variable frequency generator (VFG) deactivates

What does the cargo fire button do?

-Arms the extinguisher bottles

-Closes the ventilation SOVs

-Stops the recirculation fans

What happens if CARGO BTL is pressed (armed allready)?

First the HRD bottle discharches and the AVAIL light goes off -> amber lines.

Then the LRD bottle discharches for 60min automatically.

What happens if equiptment bay smoke is detected?

-Warnings (Aural, EICAS,..)

-Recirc fans turn off

-Cargo vent SOV's close

What does PFCC, REU, AFCU, HSTAB MCE, PCU stand for? (Fly by wire)

PFCC: Primary Flight Control Computers

REU: Remoute Electronic Units

AFCU: Alternate Flight Control Unit

HSTAB MCE: Horizontal stabilizer Motor Control Electronics unit

PCU: Power Control Unit (hydraulic control)

How many PFCC are there? How many are on control?

3 Primary Flight Control Computers

Only one at the time controls, 2 are stby.

1: What if all PFCC fail?

2: What if all REU's fail?

1: Pilot inputs go directly to REU's

2: AFCU controls PCU's and HSTAB MCE directly.

How many REU's control each primary flight control?

Rudder: 3 REU's

Aileron: 2 REU's

Elevator: 2 REU's

What does elevator do durin TO roll (by fly by wire)?

Elevator is commanded 12° nose down until 80kt at 90kt it is at 0°.

This loads the nosewheel for better ground controll.

Why must speed be trimmed in man flight?

Because neutral stick pos = 1g so an increased drag is result of a misstrim.

What are the g-limits for pitch input soft and hard stop?

Clean Config: Soft +2.5g +0.15g  Hard +2.75g -1.0g

Flaps Config: Soft +2.0g +0.15g  Hard +2.2g -0.25g

(Hardstops can overload the AC in emergency situations)

What does the "ALPHA LIMIT" EICAS message mean?

Lower AOA limit due wing anti ice fail in icing conditions.

What does the overspeed protection do?

It trimms HSTAB nose up and deploys MFS (spoilers) if high g-loads exist.

Works only in clean config.

What does Yaw Damper in OEI case do?

It automatically compensates to <20° bank and <5° sideslip

What are the 3 direct modes (fly by wire)?

PFCC DIRECT: PFCC misses information (eg airdata, IRS,..) but still controls REU's

REU DIRECT: REU gets no data from PFCC, inputs come from cockpit direct

AFCU DIRECT: REU failure, AFCU contols PCU and HSTAB MCE direct.

What does SFECU mean (flight controls)?

Slat Flap Electronic Control Unit

What does the FTIS do and mean? (Fuel)

What means ASM, NEA?

The FTIS (Fuel Tank Inerting System) cools bleed air via heat exchanger (ram air cooled) and the ASM (Air Separation Module) extracts NEA (Nitrogen Enriched Air) which is led into the tanks to prevent ignition of fumes. Te extracted oxygen goes over board.

What does FQC and EDP mean? (Fuel)

-Fuel Quantity Computer (Monitors quantity, temp, x-feed, etc)

-Engine Driven Pump

What happens if one ejector pump fails?

Both AC Boost Pumps go on if set to AUTO.

Where does the APU get ist fuel from for start?

The left AC Boost Pump goes on if on Auto.

(When L ENG runs, the ejector pump suplies fuel to APU)
