What do the Scavenge Ejector Pumps do?

They transfair fuel from main tanks to the collector tank.

(The pumps are get the motive flow from the engine high pressure fuel)

What do the Transfer Ejector Pumps do?

If the main tanks are <90%, float valves open and the Transfair Ejector Pumps pump fuel from center tank to mains.
(The Transfair Ej. Pumps motivation flow comes from Main Ejector Pumps)

What are the max fuel transfair quantities?

Main to Main: max 180kg at the time

Main to Center: max. 360kg at the time

What FUEL MAN XFR pos is needed if the right tank is low on fuel?

Switch to R

How to transfair fuel from Left Main Tank to Center Tank?

XFR switch to CTR and Left AC Boost pump to ON (in flight, on GND Auto starts XFR)

How does the Auto Fule Balancing work?

If AC Boost Pumps AUTO and imbalance in main tanks 180kg, Boost goes on and both use fuel from fuller tank.

Where is hydraulic power used?

-Primary Flight Controls (esept rudder)

-Secondary Flight Controls

-Thrust Reversers

-Landing Gear

What does EDP, ACMP mean (hydraulic)?

EDP: Engine Driven Pump

ACMP: AC Motor Pump

What are the main components of an Hydraulic System?

-Pump and backup pump

-Reservoir with accumulator

-Heat exchanger

-Shutoff valves

-Filter

-Priority valves

How are Hydraulic Systems 1 and 2 cooled?

With fuel/hydraulic heat exchangers.

How to close Hydr. Sys. 1 and 2 SOV's (3 ways)?

-Hydraulic panel buttons

-Fire buttons

-Automatic if overheat

What are the pumps for Hydr Sys 1-3?

Hyd 1: 1A EDP / PTU

Hyd 2: 2A EDP / 2B ACMP

Hyd 3: 3A ACMP / 3B ACMP

When does the PTU run in AUTO mode?

-Takeoff thrust applied

-Slat/Flap in pos 4 or 6 (or ALT FLAP switch on)

-EDP 1 fails or ENG 1 is off

-Parking brake off and single engine taxi with ENG 2

What happens when parking brake is cycled? (Hydraulic)

PTU and ACMP 2B run for 6min (if in AUTO)

What does PRSOV, WAIV, WAIT, CBV, CAIV, WIPC mean? (Ice Protection)

PRSOV: Pressure Regulating Shutoff Valve

WAIV: Wing Anit Ice Valve

WAIT: Wing Anti Ice Temperature

CBV: Cross Bleed Valve

CAIV: Cowl Anti Ice Valve

WIPC: Windshield Ice Protection Controller

What does LGSCU mean? (LDG Gear)

Landing Gear and Steering Control Unit.

How does the ALTN GEAR extension work?

An electric signal opens uplock cylinder and releases any hydraulic pressure.

Every 550 flight hours the system does an auot test upon extension (EICAS "ALTN GEAR DN")

What does EMA and BDCU mean? (Breaks)

EMA: Electric Motor Actuator (4 on each break)

BDCU: Break Data Concentrator Unit

What electric power do the brakes use?

DC ESS BUS 1 and 2

What are the break protection functions?

• Antiskid protection (10kt to 204kt)
• Landing gear retraction braking (Lever up -> 5s brake)
• Touchdown protection (no WOW -> no brake)
• Locked wheel protection (active over 30kt to allow brake turning)
• Derotation function (limited brake power if NLG still in the air)

When does RTO braking activate?

If >60kt and both thrust levers idle.

When is the break wear indication on?

If less than 5% remaining (less than 100 landings).

What do the break temp numbers mean?

00 - 06: Normal

07 - 14: High temp

15 - 20: Over heat

What does CMS mean?

Cabin Management System (Cabin control screens)

What does de cabin "ENTRY" light switch do?

It turns the Cabin and Cockpit Dome Light for 20min on (if only BATT power)

How do the cargo lights ON / OFF work?

On via switch if door fully open.

Off after 30min or door closed or switch pressed again.

What does EPSU mean (Lighting)?

Emergency Power Supply Unit (6 units installed)

What does AIM mean? (Navigation)

Aling In Motion (if no stationary alingment of IRS possible)

(alignment is faster if aircraft is moved (HDG ass/dess)

What does ATTITUDE on the IRS page mean?

Only Attitude and HDG information, no navigation.

(HDG may initialy has to be inserted manual)

What does TSS mean? (Nav)

Traffic and Surveillance System (Transponder 1 and TCAS are integrated, transponder 2 sends info from seperate unit)

What are the TCAS trafic states?
