Medical examination is normally carried out in four stages:
- inspection (looking)
- palpation (feeling with the hands) - palpate
- percussion (tapping with a finger)
- auscultation (listening with a stethoscope)
Look at the lips, tongue and nails for
the blue discoloration of cyanosis.
