Meteo

L. W.

moderate Icing

Welches Gewitter kan am einfachsten Umflogen werden?

thermische Gewitter => Ortsgebunden

Radiation?

is the transport of energy via electromagnetic waves

Ozone layer affects how slar radiation?

the ozone lyer absorbs the ultraviolet part of dollar radiation. this absorption leads to wait temp. az heights of 50 km being comparable to temp. near the surface of earth

greenhouse gases

water vapor; CO2

oart of the visible light is reflected by clouds and teh Erth's surface => most?

moots the rest is absorbed by ocean and land surfaces and raise the temp of the absorbing matter => most of ultraviolet radiation is absorbed by the ozone layer

molecules move randomly and with a high average speed. When two neighboring molecules collide, they transfer their kinetic energy and thus the heat

Why re sea surfaces warmer than asjecent land surfaces at late night?

as soon as the uppermost water layer is cooled down, it sinks and is replaced by warmer water

Isothermal layer

a layer where the temperature is constant with altitude

3 variables  in the atmosphere

temperature, density and pressure

the higher the moisture content, teh power the

air density => with increasing water vapor content, water molecules replace the heavier molecules and thus reduces the density

The diurnal variation in temperature is largest when

the sky is clear and the wind is weak

The purpose of a 'Stevenson Screen' is to

Protect the thermometer from wind, weather and direct sunshine

The tropopause is a level at which...

temperature ceases to decrease with increasing height

to cease

aufhören

How much of solar radiation reaches the ground in clear weather? (Clear weather is defined here as: visibility 10 km or more, the humidity extremely low (no clouds/fog), no polution, no surface inversion. The location is +/- 23 degrees south/north of equator).

75%

QNH is defined as...

QFE reduced to MSL using the values of the standard atmosphere

When the subscale is set to the QFE of an airfield pressure, the altimeter indicates...

zero while landing only if conditions are as in the International Standard Atmosphere

Isobars on a surface chart are lines of equal...

QFF

The instrument that gives the atmospheric pressure is...

Barometer

Anemeter

vgl Bild

Before landing, an altimeter set to QFE indicates...

in standard atmosphere, the height of the aircraft above the official airport elevation.

QNE

pressure altitude of elevation => the vertical ISA distance of aerodrome with respect to the 1013.2 hPa level
