Nasal or sinus pain, infections, epistaxis, polyps, frequent colds and / or rhinorrhea (number, duration, treatment response) , snoring, breathing problems, mouth breathing, obstructio, itching
Decrease in sense of smell/ flavor changes
Dissatisfaction with nasal contours
Surgery
Assessment of nose and paranasal sinuses
E/creptXTERNAL
a. inspect the contour, symmetry and coloration of the nose and its relationship to other facial structures
b. palpate bony nasal structures for displacement and movement/ crepitus (fracture) with thumb and forefinger
c. inspect face for edema and redness involving one or both sinuses
d. Palpate and percuss maxillary, ethmoid and frontal sinuses bilaterally to detect fullness and tenderness
e. assess nasal airflow by holding the hand beneath the nares and asking the patient to exhale with the lips closes
f. Manipulate (gently) the external nose to assess how these changes affect airflow
g. Test smell by test tube filled with coffee, peppermint, etc. or using a scratch and sniff test card
h. with the room darkened, use a light source to observe for transmission of the light through the sinus
1) frontal sinuses:
2) maxillary sinuses:
INTERNAL
a. observe color, character and amount/ crusting of mucus or other drainage: color, character and texture of mucous membranes, structures and meatus in relationship to each other and to the space available for air passage (noting swelling, abnormal growths or missing structures)
b. anterior rhinoscopy: observation ofthe nasal vestibule, inferior and middle meatus, inferior and middle turbinates, anterior floor of nose and anterior nasal septum, using a lighted otoscope and a nasal speculum to slightly dilate the vestibule
c. endosopy: detailed inspection of the nose, sinus ostioa, nasopharynx and upper aerodigestive tract.

Definition Sinusitis
entzündliche Prozesse der Schleimhautauskleidung der Nasennebenhöhlen.
Welche Keime werden bei Sinusitis häufig gefunden?
Pneumokokken und Haemophilus influenzae. Seltener andere Streptokokken, Staphylokokken oder Moraxellen.l
Was ist eine Infundibulotomie?
Erweiterung der Ostien der Nasennebenhöhlen
Was ist Proptosis
downward placing of eyeball
Was ist chemosis?
edema of conjunctiva about cornea
Was ist ophtalmoplegia?
paralysis of ocular muscles
Was ist eine Mukozele?
Schleimhautansammlung in einem Hohlraum.
Was ist eine Pyozele?
mit eitrigem Sekret gefüllter Hohlraum
Was ist ein Osteom
gutartiger Knochentumor
Welche Symptome bestehen bei einer Sepumdeviation?
Behinderte Nasenatmung
Beeinträchtigung des Riechvermögens
Schnarchen
evt. Kopfschmerzen
Schnupfen und Nebenhöhlenentzündungen heilen schlecht ab
Trockene Rachenschleimhaut (Mundatmung)
häufige Rachen- und Kehlkopfkatarrhe, Angingên und Bronchitiden
Epistaxis
Wundergeschwulst. Mischgeschwulst.
benigner Hirntumor
Drogen/ Medikamente (Kokain, Antikoagulantien, NSAID)
Blut- und Leberfunktionsstörungen
Tumore
