Flashcards

If the airplane is loaded heavier and aft of the reat CG limit, what happens with the VMC?

The Vmc is much higher

How you can solve the problem from one engine inoperative produced drg?

counter rotating engines

VSSE was ist das genau?

85 kts => a minimum speed for intentionally rendering one engine inoperative

VYSE

the speed which produces the greatest gain in altitude with one engine inoperative => 85 kts

VXSE

Best angle of climb with one engine inoperative => Only used for critical obstacle => Below V MCA

The single engine service ceiling?

max. density altitude at which the single engine best rate of climb will produce a 50 fpm rate of climb => 50 is necessary to maintain level flight for long periods in turbulent air

The multi engine service ceiling?

will produce a 100 fpm rate of climb => clean conf.

The single engine absolute ceiling?

max. density altitude the airplane is capable of attaining or maintaining => VXSE and VYSE are the same ==> Critical engine must be feathered

What happens when yyou are flying above the single engine absolute ceiling?

the aircraft will descend gradually to the density altitude equivalent of the single engine absolute ceiling => In turbulent descending to the service ceiling

Any increase in drag, whether parasite or induced must be what?

Must be balanced by the use of additional thrust => Any speed above VYSE during climb requires excess thrust and decrease the airplane's performance

What makes the bigest drag by an engine failure?

a windmilling propeller followed by full flaps, extended gear and the control deflections ==> Propeller should be feathered

Feathered?

blades can be rotated parallel to the airflow

What decrease performance further ?

any increase in density altitude and turns == Turns should be limited during single engine climb until reached a safe altitude => max. 15 degrees bank

Which are the most critical phases of multi engine ops

the T/O and the initial climb => in the event of an engine failure or partial power loss

Tolerances: Alt Normal

+/- 100 ft

Tolerances: Starting G/A at DH and Min. Descent Altitude

+50/-0ft

Tolerances: Tracking on radio aids

+/- 5 Grad

Tolerances: Headung generally

+/- 5 Grad

Tolerances: Heading Simulated OEI

+/- 10 Grad

Tolerances:  Pitch max?

15 Grad Pitch

Tolerances: Speed AEO

+/- 5 kts

Tolerances:  Speed OEI

+ 10 / -5 kt

Tolerances:  MAx Bank 30 Grad und bei Vx Vy VYSE and VApp

max. 15 Grad Bank => If higher bank angle is requires add 5 KIAS

Corrections of altitude max.?

The rate of change should not exceed doubled deviation. => 100 ft Abweichung => max. 200 fpm

Corrections of heading

If you are 3 Grad off => 3 Grad Bank

Every Pitch change has to be accompanied by an adjustment in

Every Pitch change has to be accompanied by an adjustment in power

When you use rudder trim?

Normal set to neutral and is used mainly to compensate for asymmetric power

When you give 1 Grad Pitch, Power?

+ 3% Power => Pro Grad Pitch + 3% Power

Heading changes: Wie viel Bank?

Normally 25 Grad Bank if heading to go is higher than 25 Grad => Roll-out => Heading to go !!=> Back pressure in turns grösser als 20 Grad => Pitch + 1

3 Arten to climb?

1. Climb at constant speed (normally)

2. Climb at constant ,,Rate of climb" (ROC)

3. Climb with constant pitch attitude

=> for this modes of climb, engine power normally remains at a fixed setting (climb power)

2 Arten of descent:

1. Descent at costant ,,rate of descent" (ROD)

2. Descent at constant speed  => Speed is held with small power changes (final approache)

Max. RPM beim Taxi bis all indications green

max. 1400 RPM

Climb within 1000 ft use max.

1000 fpm

Wann sagt man Approaching ?

Max. 1000 ft before reaching desired altitude

ROD ca.?

500 - 800 FPM

Holding Speed für Kategorie A and B aircrafts nach ICAO

170 kts => V p clean => DA42 110 kts

Procedures for steep turns 45 degrees:

1. Select a point on the neutral horizon at which to complete the turn

2. Hold speed = 115 KIAS + 60 % Load  => 60% Load and during turn (ab 15-30 Grad) 65-70% load

3. Desired Angle of bank and hold => 1. Bank 2. + 2 Grad pitch

4. 15 Grad vor HDG => Roll-out

5.  Coordinate ailerons and rudder to roll back => reducing power

What are unusual attitudes?

1. Bank more than 39 degrees

2. nose up and decreasing airspeed

3. nose down and increasing airspeed

==> Increasing scanning and including the STBY ATT to check if any instruments has malfuntioned

Unusual attitudes ==> Close to stall:

1. lower the nose + full power

2. speed increases, level the wings

3. pulling out of the dive

Unusual attitudes ==> Not close to stall:

1.stick forward

2. roll wings level

3. add power if necessary
