• Check the cabin altitude and rate.                                                                         Check the cabin altitude and rate. 

• If the cabin altitude is uncontrollable: 

“EMERGENCY DESCENT” 

• Push the PASS OXYGEN switch to ON and hold for 1 second. 

Without delay , descend to the lowest safe altitude or 10,000 feet, whichever is higher. 

To descend: 

• Set altitude on MCP(1) 

• Select heading on MCP(1) 

• Engage FLCH(1) 

• Move the thrust levers to idle 

• Extend the speedbrakes 

• SPEED on MCP to VMO/MMO

structural integrity?  limit airspeed 

PA: “EMERGENCY DESCENT"

“AUTOPILOT DISENGAGE SWITCH PUSH”

Pushes the autopilot disengage switch 

“BOTH A/T ARM SWITCHES OFF”,

• puts his hand to the A/T arm switches. 

“OFF” 

• Selects the A/T arm switches to OFF. 

“BOTH F/D SWITCHES OFF”,

• puts his hands to the FD switches. 

“OFF” 

• Selects the FD switches to OFF. 

Sets the following gear up pitch attitude and thrust: 

• Flaps extended 10 degrees and 85% N1 
• or 
• Flaps up 4 degrees and 70% N1 

• Monitors correct attitude and thrust, calls out deviations. 

“AIRSPEED UNRELIABLE MEMORY ITEMS COMPLETE” 

“ENGINE SEVERE DAMAGE/SEPARATION Right MEMORY ITEMS”   

“L/R A/T ARM SWITCH – CONFIRM – OFF”,

• puts his hand to the left or right A/T arm switch. 

“OFF”   

• Selects the left or right A/T arm switch to OFF.  

“L/R THRUST LEVER – CONFIRM – IDLE”,

• puts his hand to the left or right thrust lever. 

“IDLE”   

• Retards the thrust lever to idle.  

“L/R FUEL CONTROL SWITCH – CONFIRM – CUTOFF”,

• puts his hand to the left or right fuel control switch. 

“CUTOFF”   

• Selects the left or right fuel control switch to cutoff.  

“L/R ENGINE FIRE SWITCH – CONFIRM – PULL”,

• puts his hand to the left or right engine fire switch. 

“PULL”   

• Pulls the left or right engine fire switch.  

“ENGINE SEVERE DAMAGE/SEPARATION L/R MEMORY ITEMS COMPLETE”

“FIRE ENGINE L/R MEMORY ITEMS” 

“L/R A/T ARM SWITCH – CONFIRM – OFF” 

• puts his hand to the left or right A/T arm switch. 

“OFF” 

• Selects the left or right A/T arm switch to OFF. 

“L/R THRUST LEVER – CONFIRM – IDLE”,

• puts his hand to the left or right thrust lever. 

“IDLE” 

• Retards the thrust lever to idle. 

“L/R FUEL CONTROL SWITCH – CONFIRM – CUTOFF”,

• puts his hand to the left or right fuel control switch. 

“CUTOFF” 

• Selects the left or right fuel control switch to cutoff. 

“L/R ENGINE FIRE SWITCH – CONFIRM – PULL”,

• puts his hand to the left or right engine fire switch. 

“PULL” 

• Pulls the left or right engine fire switch. 

• If the FIRE ENG message stays shown: 

“L/R ENGINE FIRE SWITCH ROTATE”,

• puts his hand to the left or right engine fire switch. 

“ROTATE” 

• Rotate the left or right engine fire switch to the stop and hold for 1 second. 
• Start timing (by pushing clock switch or opening NNC). 

• If after 30 seconds, the FIRE ENG message stays shown: 

“L/R ENGINE FIRE SWITCH ROTATE TO THE OTHER STOP”,

• puts his hand to the left or right engine fire switch. 

“ROTATE” 

• Rotate the left or right engine fire switch to the other stop and hold for 1 second. 

“FIRE ENGINE L/R MEMORY ITEMS COMPLETE” 

“ENGINE LIM/SURGE/STALL L/R MEMORY ITEMS”

“L/R A/T ARM SWITCH – CONFIRM – OFF”,

puts his hand to the left or right A/T arm switch.

“OFF”

• Selects the left or right A/T arm switch to OFF.

“L/R THRUST LEVER – CONFIRM – RETARD”,

• puts his hand to the left or right thrust lever. 

“RETARD” 

• Retards the thrust lever until engine indications stay within limits or the thrust lever is at idle. 

“ENGINE LIM/SURGE/STALL L/R MEMORY ITEMS COMPLETE” 

“STABILIZER MEMORY ITEMS”  

“BOTH STAB CUTOUT SWITCHES CUTOUT”,

• puts his hand to the center and right stabilizer cutout switches. 

“CUTOUT” 

• Selects the center and right stabilizer cutout switches to cutout. 

“DO NOT EXCEED THE CURRENT AIRSPEED” 

Maintains maximum current airspeed. 

“STABILIZER MEMORY ITEMS COMPLETE” 

“DUAL ENGINE FAIL/STALL MEMORY ITEMS”   

“BOTH FUEL CONTROL SWITCHES CUTOFF THEN RUN”,

• puts his hands to the left and right fuel control switches. 

“CUTOFF THEN RUN”   

• Selects the left and right fuel control switches to cutoff and then to run.  

“RAM AIR TURBINE SWITCH PUSH”,

puts his hand to the ram air turbine switch.

“PUSH”   

• Pushes the ram air turbine switch and holds for 1 second.  

“DUAL ENGINE FAIL/STALL MEMORY ITEMS COMPLETE”
